Paving work in Shalimar Underway
Paving operations on Eglin Parkway in Shalimar re-started this week. Milling and resurfacing the pavement will restore smooth driving conditions. The work is being performed during overnight hours to minimize traffic impacts. Drivers should anticipate lane closures between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m. each evening until the work is complete.
The speed limit in the work zone has been reduced to 30 mph. Drivers are reminded to be alert for construction workers and equipment.
Shalimar drainage system replacement completed
Construction crews have completed removal and re-installation of the sub-surface drainage system on Eglin Parkway in Shalimar. Completing the work has allowed the re-opening of all six Eglin Parkway travel lanes and the median between Shalimar Drive and Ninth Avenue. In addition, access to Sixth Avenue has been restored.
Eglin Parkway/Hollywood Boulevard intersection
Nighttime work continues at the Eglin Parkway/Hollywood Boulevard intersection in Fort Walton Beach. Construction crews are installing new drainage pipes and widening the turning radius at the northwest corner of the intersection to make it safer and easier to navigate. This work is not currently impacting traffic.

The construction team also focused efforts on the Shalimar Bridge last week. Crews removed and replaced bridge joints and a large steel plate from the roadway. In addition, paving crews milled and paved the center and outside lanes of the bridge.
